Phu Quoc Special Zone is oriented to develop into an island city; a high-quality tourism and resort service center with its own identity and attractiveness to domestic and international tourists.
Continuously ranking high on the world tourism map, Phu Quoc was honored by the world's leading travel magazine Travel + Leisure as the second most beautiful island in the world. In the list of “25 most inspiring travel destinations in 2025”, Phu Quoc has successfully become the only representative of Vietnam, alongside world-famous tourist destinations such as Phuket (Thailand), Hawaii (USA), Great Barrier (Australia), Reykjavik (Iceland), Machu Picchu (Peru)... The destinations in the list are selected based on criteria such as pristine, unique natural scenery and tourism development potential.
With a series of high-class residential projects for the destination to live in, along with an increasingly complete entertainment - resort ecosystem, in the near future, Phu Quoc will not only be known as the second most beautiful island in the world (after Maldives) as Travel+Leisure has announced, but also the most worth visiting and living place in Asia.
APEC
APEC 2027, taking place in Q4/2027 with the participation of leaders from 21 Asia-Pacific economies, is an important foreign affairs event, opening up opportunities to enhance Vietnam's international standing. The selection of Phu Quoc as the host location demonstrates the Government's determination to build the island city into a regional-class conference and tourism hub. According to Decision 948/QD-TTg, Phu Quoc is implementing 21 key infrastructure projects with a total investment of over 137,000 billion VND, covering transportation, urban development, environment, digital transformation, and conference facilities. Prominent among these are the expansion project of Phu Quoc International Airport, the APEC Convention Center, strategic transportation systems including DT.975 road, APEC Boulevard, and the urban railway line, along with works ensuring water security, waste and wastewater treatment, and smart urban infrastructure. These projects will not only serve the APEC 2027 High-Level Week but also create a foundation for sustainable development, helping Phu Quoc shape its role as a modern coastal city, a MICE center, and a high-end tourism destination for Vietnam in the future.
