“The first ray of sunshine” was expected to be baby girl Sunny. The baby was born healthy, weighing 3.3 kg and the family lovingly named her Anh Duong, which means 'Sunshine', connecting to her birthplace, the Sun Hospital (Benh Vien Mat Troi). Sunny brings complete happiness to the family, marking an incredibly memorable milestone, full of inspiration for the new journey at the Sun Hospital (Benh Vien Mat Troi), along with the medical staff of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.

The parturient, Ms. P.A., has a history of gestational diabetes and leg swelling since week 19 of pregnancy. Gestational diabetes is one of the most common endocrine disorders in pregnant women. If not monitored and treated properly, this condition can cause a series of dangerous complications for both mother and fetus, such as: increased risk of pre-eclampsia, infection, polyhydramnios, premature birth, postpartum hemorrhage, or developing type 2 diabetes after birth. Additionally, the newborn is at risk of birth trauma, neonatal hypoglycemia, respiratory failure, and even stillbirth if not well-controlled.
In the case of parturient P.A., in addition to gestational diabetes, she also experienced early leg swelling from week 19 – a sign with many potential risks, requiring close monitoring to rule out vascular complications or kidney dysfunction. From the early weeks, a specialized pregnancy management protocol was established, involving multidisciplinary collaboration between obstetrics, endocrinology, and nutrition. The expectant mother underwent regular check-ups and tests, monitoring blood glucose levels, HbA1c, fetal Doppler ultrasound, monitoring... while receiving advice on appropriate diet, exercise, and medication. At each stage of pregnancy, the mother's and baby's indicators were updated, risks assessed, and closely monitored, ensuring blood glucose levels remained within the safe range, helping the fetus develop stably and choosing the most appropriate time for delivery.
