Ancient temple system halfway up the mountain
As one of the sacred acupoints of Vietnam, Ba Den Mountain is associated with the legend of Linh Son Thanh Mau Bodhisattva - a spiritual symbol in the South.
Halfway up the mountain, the system of Ba temples is where there are 5 places to worship Linh Son Thanh Mau Bodhisattva, becoming a solid spiritual support for the people of the South to entrust their wishes for health,wealth, and good luck. The temple system includes: Long Chau Phuoc Trung Pagoda, Linh Son Tien Thach Tu with Dien Ba next to it,Hoa Dong Pagoda, Hang Pagoda and Quan Am Pagoda.
Here, the most important place of worship is Linh Son Tien Thach Tu - the oldest pagoda on Ba Den Mountain with a history of 300 years. In front of the pagoda is a statue of the Goddess of Mercy wearing a white robe, hands holding a water pitcher.. Right next to the temple is themain shrine built from a rock cave, the main shrine worships Linh Son Thanh Mau with a dark face.
Right in front of the temple grounds is the large bronze bell, where many people choose to sit under the bell to meditate, listen to the bell, and pray in the peaceful atmosphere of the temple.
Every year, the Ba temple system welcomes millions of visitors to make pilgrimages and offer their respects to Linh Son Thanh Mau Bodhisattva. The most important festival is the Ba Den Festival, which takes place at the beginning of the 5th lunar month with special ceremonies such as the Ba Bathing Ceremony, the Ngo Offering Ceremony, and the presentation of offerings...
System of magnificent spiritual cultural works on the mountain top
From the Ba Temple area, it only takes 5 minutes by cable car to reach the mountain top - a place known as the "first heavenly mountain" with a majestic and poetic landscape. In the vast space of the cloud-covered mountain top, the bronze statue of Tay Bo Da Son Goddess, the tallest in Asia, appears majestically with a gentle face, hands holding a water pitcher representing the bestowal of blessings, hands raised in a gesture of religious seal, astatue representing protection and support for all beings.
The mountain top is also where the Maitreya Bodhisattva statue is located, made up of 6,688 sandstone blocks inspired by terraced fields. As one of the largest sandstone Buddha statues in the world, the Maitreya Bodhisattva statue with its compassionate eyes and joyful smile is a symbol of happiness and joy on the highest mountain in the South.
From the large square, visitors can see the panoramic view of the fertile plains hidden among the sea of clouds. From here, visitors will be lost in the peaceful Buddhist land with the scenery of meditation, paths full of blooming flowers throughout the four seasons, and the Bodhi garden with 108 Bodhi trees from Bodh Gaya planted by senior monks from all over the world during the Vesak 2025 ceremony.
Right at the foot of the Tay Bo Da Son Buddha statue is a large four-story Buddhist exhibition center.
On the first floor, an experience not to be missed is watching a 3D mapping film about the formation of the universe from a Buddhist perspective on a dome screen with a 20 meter screen using world-leading modern technology.
On the second floor,there are 16 3D hologram projectors, where visitors can admire models of 16 famous pagodas in Vietnam. Also here, visitors can also visit the special room of the Kinh Luan pillars (prayer wheels).
The third floor is a display area for reproductions of classical Buddhist artworks, including many Buddha statues based on the unique originals from India, Tibet, China, Thailand, Japan, etc.
Floor 4 is the place where the sacred relics of Buddha Shakyamuni werepresented by the Buddhist community in Bodh Gaya India to Vietnam in2014. With the Buddhist relics, venerating the Buddha's sacred relics is a rare blessing.
At the underground dharma hall, visitors will admire thefive stone pillars made of black granite, carved with the Heart Sutra in gold, among which, the largest pillar has a diameter of 2m and a height of 19,8m reaching for the sky.
Diverse spiritual and cultural experiences
Annually, a series of events and festivals of spiritual culture are continuously organized on a large scale such as the Hoi Xuan Nui Ba Festival, Vesak Day, Ba's Anniversary, Vu Lan Festival..., making this place a pilgrimage destination for Vietnam and the world.
The most distinctive ceremony at Ba Den Mountain is the lantern-lighting ceremony, held every Saturday evening. From around 4-5 pm, thousands of visitors gather in the large square at the foot of the statue of the Goddess of Tay Bo DaSon, receiving completely free lanterns from Sun World Ba Den tourism staff. Pens and writing paper are prepared so that visitors can assemble the lanterns and write their wishes by hand.
The lantern offering ceremony will take place at dusk, where thousands will stand in solemn lines in the square, their hearts at peace amidst the glittering lights of the lanterns, praying for peace and good fortune, creating a truly magical atmosphere atop the sacred peak.
After the lantern offering ceremony, visitors will move to the area of the Maitreya Bodhisattva statue to watch the water-music show, rich in Zen colors, using Vietnam's leading modern technology and a system of 1,450 incredibly magical lights.
Also at the top of Ba Den Mountain, art performances rich in heritage colors are regularly held on holidays, Tet, and weekends, making it a place to preserve and cultivate the cultural essence of the nation.
