Overcoming the harsh "test" of the peak season

February 2026 was the peak period for Vietnam's aviation industry with over 28,000 flights operated to serve the Lunar New Year. Amidst the surge in flight traffic at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat gateways, coupled with adverse weather conditions significantly impacting overall operational capacity (the industry's OTP only reached 58.7%), SPA's maintenance of a punctuality rate 16.1% higher than the average demonstrates the airline's stable operational efficiency. Notably, while the cause of 'late arriving aircraft' accounted for up to 72.2% of the total delayed flights in the industry, SPA still operated 948 on-time flights out of a total of 1,267 flights, demonstrating flexible and efficient operational capabilities even during a period of high market pressure.

Scientific management system and young fleet

This result reflects Sun PhuQuoc Airways' well-invested strategy in its operational system from the very beginning. The airline owns the youngest fleet in the Vietnamese aviation industry, which is maintained to strict technical standards to ensure flight schedule stability.

In addition, the real-time operational control system and close coordination between flight operations, technical, ground services, and flight crews help optimize operations, minimizing the impact of infrastructure pressure at many major airports.

In the aviation industry, punctuality is not just an operational metric but also a measure of reliability and respect for passengers' time. Maintaining a high on-time performance rate during peak periods demonstrates the synchronized preparation of the entire operational system behind each flight.

“Punctuality is not just an operational indicator, it is a commitment to reliability that we extend to every passenger,” a company representative shared. “Maintaining high operational standards during peak periods is the foundation for Sun PhuQuoc Airways to confidently enter the next phase of scaling up.”

A mission from its name to an ambition to contribute to elevating the Jade Island

As the first airline named after an island, SPA harbors the aspiration to closely link aviation with the development of Vietnamese tourism. The choice of the name “ Phu Quoc ” reflects a long-term vision: to contribute to making the Jade Island a center for resort, trade, and international connectivity for Vietnam and the region.

The airline is developing an international flight network with the first route taking off on March 29th

In that context, the development of the international flight network plays an important role in enhancing the accessibility for global tourists to this destination. From March 29, 2026, SPA will officially operate the first international route connecting Phu Quoc - Taipei. The international flight network expansion route will continue to boom in Q2/2026 with a series of attractive destinations in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia such as: South Korea (Seoul, Busan), Thailand (Bangkok), Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan - China (Kaohsiung), and India (Mumbai, New Delhi).

To realize this vision, Sun Phu Quoc Airways has signed a strategic order worth 22.5 billion USD with Boeing to purchase 40 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner wide-body aircraft, one of the most modern and efficient aircraft types currently available.

This is an important resource preparation step for the airline to expand its medium and long-haul flight network, connecting Phu Quoc and Vietnam with many major tourist and economic centers around the world.
