According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) continues to be the most punctual airline in Vietnam in January 2026, with an On-Time Performance (OTP) rate of 87.9%. Notably, the airline achieved an absolute mark with a 0% cancellation rate, affirming its reputation and meticulous preparation during the peak season at the beginning of 2026.
Maintaining Leadership in the Peak Season
In January 2026, the domestic aviation market faced significant operational pressure with a total of 24,333 flights. While the average OTP rate for the entire industry was 71.1%, Sun PhuQuoc Airways achieved a figure of 87.9%.
This is the second consecutive month SPA has topped the reliability rankings. Previously, in December 2025, the airline also led with an OTP index of 93.5%. Maintaining stable performance through the peak months of the year-end and the new year is a testament to the professional operational capabilities and smooth coordination within Sun Group's ecosystem.
Committed to striving to maximize the completeness of every journey
With 1,100 flights operated in January, SPA had no cancellations. A representative from Sun Phu Quoc Airways shared: "For us, 'on-time' is not just a statistical indicator, but a commitment to respecting our passengers' precious time. SPA strives to ensure every business trip is smooth and every holiday begins with complete enjoyment."
Young fleet and promising expansion strategy
SPA's operational success is supported by the most modern and youngest fleet in Vietnam. By the end of February 2026, the airline is expected to rapidly scale up to 9 aircraft, including 5 brand new A321NX (A321neo ACF) aircraft. This rapid fleet development pace not only affirms financial capacity but also serves the plan to expand the international flight network.
According to the roadmap, from the beginning of Q2/2026, SPA will officially connect Phu Quoc with international destinations such as Taipei, Busan, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong; followed by Mumbai and New Delhi in Q3/2026.
Sun Group's takeover and operation of Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) along with SPA's stable growth is creating a solid infrastructure foundation, ready to make Phu Quoc a key international destination, towards the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum 2027.
As the first airline in Vietnam named after an island, Sun Phu Quoc Airways invested and developed by Sun Group following a "spider web" flight network model, directly connecting Phu Quoc with domestic and international tourism-economic centers through direct flights, reasonable costs, and a seamless experience associated with the Ngoc Island ecosystem. The airline has become one of the few young airlines in Vietnam to possess a closed-loop operational ecosystem by successively completing important certifications from the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, including the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) with its operational scope expanded to international routes in Asia – the Middle East, the Approved Training Organization (ATO) certificate, the Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) certificate, and basic training ratings for aircraft technical personnel at levels A1/B1.1+ B2 and B1/B2 for A320/A321 aircraft types. In December 2025, SPA achieved an On-Time Performance (OTP) index of 93.5% – the highest rate in the domestic aviation industry.
