In the opposite direction, flight 9G611 departed from Chengdu at 22:05 and landed in Phu Quoc at 0:35 on July 17. Occupancy rate of over 90%, showing a large connection demand between the two destinations
On its opening day, the Chengdu - Phu Quoc flight achieved an occupancy rate of over 90%, indicating a strong demand for connectivity between the two destinations and Phu Quoc's growing appeal to Chinese tourists. Ms. Liu Yu Ting, a tourist from Chengdu, shared: "Phu Quoc is still quite a new destination for us, so I am very eager to explore it. Previously, there was no direct flight, so I couldn't arrange a trip. Now everything is much more convenient."

The airline's flight attendants welcome travelers
On the new route, Sun Phu Quoc Airways realizes the "Resort in the Sky" aviation model, offering a complete journey with checked baggage and meals according to ticket class, new-generation cabins, distinctive La Festa fragrance, wireless entertainment system (IFE), and a menu combining the culinary essence of many cultures.

Visitors receive gifts from the airline
The journey's value is extended at the destination. Passengers keep their flight boarding passes to receive free Sun World Hon Thom cable car tickets, while enjoying discounts of up to 30% on resort, dining, spa, and entertainment services within the Sun Group ecosystem in Phu Quoc. Members of Sun Signature can also accumulate bonus points from each flight to redeem for air tickets, services, and unlock more privileges across the entire ecosystem.

Young travelers take a flight to Phu Quoc
The choice of Chengdu as the first destination in Southwest China is part of the strategy to expand the presence of Sun PhuQuoc Airways in one of China's fastest-growing outbound markets. With over 20 million inhabitants, Chengdu is the economic, cultural, and aviation hub of the region, and possesses a large demand for high-quality sea resort and tourism products.
At the agency workshop held prior to the launch, travel businesses and representatives from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism all recognized Phu Quoc as a new destination for tourists from Southwest China, opening up significant potential for market development and promoting exchanges between the two localities.

After Phu Quoc, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will continue to launch a route from Ho Chi Minh City to Chengdu
On August 12, SPA will continue to take off the Chengdu - Ho Chi Minh City route with a frequency of three round trips per week, expanding connectivity between Southwest China and Vietnam's largest economic center.
In parallel with the Chinese market, the airline is expanding its flight network to Malaysia, India, Japan, Russia, and Kazakhstan, while also developing more domestic connections to Phu Quoc following a "hub-and-spoke" model, gradually increasing accessibility to the Pearl Island from domestic and international source markets.
The expansion of the flight network is being implemented concurrently with plans to increase the fleet size to 32 aircraft by 2026, with the introduction of the wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft from September. These are important foundations for Sun PhuQuoc Airways to realize its "Rise to the World" strategy and gradually affirm Phu Quoc as a new aviation-tourism hub in the region.
