“The dark horse” is accelerating
Officially launched on the market in October 2025 and commercially took off in November 2025, Sun Phu Quoc Airways of Sun Group Corporation joined the Vietnamese aviation industry at a time when the industry was experiencing a booming recovery but also facing many challenges regarding costs, fleet, human resources, infrastructure capacity, and increasingly fierce competition in service quality. However, after nearly 1 year of operation, this “newcomer” has shown “formidable strength”.

New aircraft livery of Sun Phu Quoc Airways
From the milestone of receiving the first aircraft in August 2025, the airline will increase its total fleet size to 32 aircraft by the end of this year. Sun Phu Quoc Airways will also soon enhance its intercontinental transport capacity with plans to operate wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft in September 2026, along with a billion-dollar contract for 40 Boeing aircraft expected for delivery from 2031.
On its journey to expand regionally and globally, the airline recently launched its new livery with the three characters "SPA" on the aircraft body, symbolizing continuous energy, innovative spirit, and the aspiration to reach further. This livery will become the official design standard for all Sun Phu Quoc Airways aircraft.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways continuously expands its international flight network connecting Phu Quoc
The continuous addition of aircraft in a short period demonstrates Sun PhuQuoc Airways' deployment capability and long-term investment commitment in enhancing transportation capacity and expanding global connectivity. For a new airline, this speed requires not only financial potential but also the capability for operational organization, personnel preparation, technical readiness, and a service system sufficient to keep pace with the growth scale.
Accompanying the fleet expansion is a flight network developed at a remarkable pace. From the hub of Phu Quoc, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has expanded its "spoke routes" connecting the "Pearl Island" with major domestic economic and tourist centers including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hai Phong, while simultaneously extending Phu Quoc's reach to key Asian international markets such as Taiwan & Hong Kong (China), Seoul (South Korea), Singapore, Bangkok (Thailand), and Chengdu (China). The airline is also concurrently promoting plans to expand its flight network to Malaysia, Japan, India, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

Recruitment Day for 1,000 Flight Attendants of Sun Phu Quoc Airways
To serve that ambition, Sun Phu Quoc Airways is preparing a large-scale workforce. With the belief that service quality ultimately begins with people, the airline is implementing a plan to recruit 1,000 flight attendants to serve its expansion strategy.
Notably, the recruitment program expands opportunities for global candidates. This is a necessary preparation step as Sun Phu Quoc Airways ventures into more international markets, where the flight attendant team must not only meet safety standards and operational procedures but also possess cross-cultural communication skills, understand diverse customer groups, and positively convey the image of a modern, professional, and hospitable Vietnamese airline.

Resort flight journey aiming for international 5-star standards
Service quality is also built by the airline as a long-term competitive foundation. The positioning of “resort aviation” is materialized with the model of checking in flights directly from hotels (hotel check-in), the premium lounge Sun Executive Lounge designed like a resort with Vietnamese cuisine curated by artisans and gathering international culinary brands, interior standardized with “Indochine elegance” with the characteristic La Festa scent, spacious seats using high-quality materials, hot meals served in the style of luxury restaurants, wireless entertainment system along with the dedicated service culture “SPArkle”.
It is expected that by the end of 2026, the airline’s narrow-body aircraft will complete the upgrade of their Business Class cabins in sync with the Airbus A330 fleet, aiming to deliver a consistent experience according to international 5-star airline standards on all journeys.
Aviation paves the way for destinations
The acceleration of Sun PhuQuoc Airways is gradually realizing the vision of making Phu Quoc a new regional connectivity hub, where a large flow of tourists from all over the world will create momentum for the entire destination. The difference of Sun PhuQuoc Airways lies in being a “link” in Sun Group’s ecosystem. Aviation paves the way for tourists to the destination; the resort, entertainment, and leisure ecosystem continues to retain them, enhance their experience, and prolong the value after each flight.
This direction stems from the development potential of Phu Quoc itself. In the period 2015 - 2025, the passenger volume through the flight network connecting Phu Quoc increased from 1.41 million to 5.81 million, equivalent to an increase of over 300% in a decade. In regional comparison, this scale is still only about 36% of Phuket and 29% of Bali, showing that the growth potential of the "Pearl Island" is still very large.

Sunset Town, Phu Quoc
It is within this scope that the model Sun PhuQuoc Airways is pursuing is closer to a “Destination Hub” - a connecting hub driven by the destination's appeal. Phu Quoc will be the reason for passengers to choose to stop, stay, experience, and spend.
Therefore, each new route of Sun PhuQuoc Airways will be a new market corridor, bringing Phu Quoc closer to international tourist flows, while also opening up opportunities for trade, investment, and economic exchange. In the context of the APEC 2027 Conference creating a major boost for the infrastructure and international connectivity of Pearl Island, the role of an airline centered on Phu Quoc becomes even clearer.
From Phu Quoc, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is embarking on a journey larger than just entering the aviation market. It is a journey to use aviation to pave the way for the destination, and also to use the destination itself to nurture the flight network. With a young fleet, a wide network, well-prepared personnel, and rich, distinctive flight experiences, Vietnam's youngest airline is taking firm steps towards its ambition to “spread its wings” in the international sky.
