Sun Executive Lounge Phu Quoc: a unique experience in a centuries-old “aviation academy”

On April 1st, Sun PhuQuoc Airways inaugurated its second Sun Executive Lounge at Phu Quoc International Airport. A new, unique milestone that many believe Sun Group's airline is “shaping a new generation of premium lounges in Vietnam”.

A one-of-a-kind “aviation academy”

The new lounge of Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) was designed by architect Bill Bensley – the “father” of world-renowned unique architectural masterpieces.

It is not hard to imagine Bill Bensley designing resorts, but for an airport lounge, that is a rare story. Associated with renowned resorts and famously selective in choosing projects, his presence at Sun Executive Lounge Phu Quoc has transformed a pre-flight "touchpoint" into a unique and emotional experience. For Sun Group, this is not just a design, but a way to elevate the "resort travel" journey to a different standard.

Sun Executive Lounge is inspired by a 1920s 'aviation academy', the golden age of the industry. The mezzanine structure combined with a high, classic vaulted ceiling featuring large propeller plane models, transports passengers back in time to an era when flights were still bold experiments.

The walls are covered with technical sketches of aircraft and engines in chalk. Artistic paintings, personally selected by Bill Bensley, depict early pilots in leather caps, goggles, and trench coats.

Every detail is arranged so that when guests recline on the large brown leather sofas, sipping a cup of TWG tea, they can step back in time to enjoy a classic, luxurious space and gradually discover stories about the aviation industry in a gentle, engaging way.

Refinement in every dish

If the design space defines the class for Sun Executive Lounge in Phu Quoc, then the cuisine is what affirms its uniqueness.

These are the "quintessential national dishes" selected and curated by artisan Anh Tuyet, who is renowned as "De Nhat Ha Thanh" (Hanoi's finest) in Vietnamese culinary culture. It is rare for an airport lounge to offer passengers a Vietnamese culinary menu that preserves the original cooking methods and spirit as found at Sun Executive Lounge.

A bowl of pho is prepared in the traditional Hanoi style with bones simmered for at least 12 hours, meat chosen from the best cuts, traditional noodles free of borax. Bun moc with a clear, light broth, sweet from the bones, and fragrant meatballs from selected pork. Bun cha with the characteristic aroma of charcoal-grilled pork. Refreshing Hanoi-style desserts like jasmine-infused tofu pudding or grapefruit flower-infused sugarcane…

Not only preserving the soul of Vietnamese cuisine, Sun Executive Lounge also creates sophisticated international culinary touchpoints with the essence of French bread from Eric Kayser. The bread uses live yeast, refreshed daily, undergoing a slow fermentation process for 12 hours. Each loaf here is a culinary masterpiece, handcrafted with the patience, meticulousness, and dedication of the bakers.

Exclusively at Sun Executive Lounge, passengers can savor a cup of espresso, latte, or cappuccino with the premium Delingoo - Capella coffee using 100% Arabica beans. Alongside this is TWG tea, a globally renowned tea brand, with carefully selected black teas and floral-infused teas.

More than just an airport lounge, Sun Executive Lounge is where unique experiences are crafted, to deliver a complete "resort-flight" journey from the moment passengers await a flight. And that is how SPA has steadily established its position, quality, class, and distinctiveness.
