Following the directive of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on visiting and encouraging key construction sites at the beginning of the year, a Government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung spent time inspecting two strategic projects on-site: Phu Quoc International Airport and the APEC Convention and Exhibition Center, national key projects serving APEC 2027 .
Accompanying the delegation from the local side were Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho, leaders of departments, sectors, and representatives of Sun Group Corporation. At the destinations, the Deputy Prime Minister received detailed reports on the implementation status and construction progress of each project.

After hearing a report on the project implementation status, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, Phu Quoc Special Administrative-Economic Zone, Sun Group as the investor, contractors, and all workers in implementing the project to meet the set schedule.
On behalf of the Government leadership, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and praised the spirit of working through Tet, overcoming difficulties of the engineers and workers on the construction site; emphasizing that these are projects of special importance, contributing to the long-term socio-economic development of Phu Quoc in particular and An Giang province in general.
On this occasion, the delegation presented gifts to encourage the workers and wished the construction units success in their tasks in the new year.

During Lunar New Year (Tet), manpower at APEC 2027 projects is estimated at around 6,000 workers working through Tet. Specifically in the area of the Phu Quoc International Airport Expansion Investment Project, total personnel reaches 3,677. The APEC Convention and Exhibition Center construction site maintains over 1,250 engineers and workers on duty, ensuring the progress of key components.
At the APEC Convention and Exhibition Center area, the APEC Multifunctional Performance House, structural, mechanical, electrical, and finishing items are being deployed simultaneously. Construction teams operate continuously in shifts, taking full advantage of favorable weather conditions. With a workforce of over 1,200 personnel working through Tet, the goal set immediately after the holiday is to complete the rough structural items, create favorable ground and progress for the steel structure erection work, striving to complete the erection of the main truss spans, significantly shortening the project's critical path, ready to enter the peak construction phase in Q1/2026.

The airport sets a goal after Tet to shorten the time for completing the roof structure and roofing of Passenger Terminal T2 – a critical path item for the entire project; at the same time, accelerate the progress of airside items such as the runway, taxiway system, and apron to create an important time buffer, aiming for the completion of the entire project by December 31, 2026.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Government delegation concluded their working program in Phu Quoc and returned to Hanoi.
