Delegates officially pressed the button to commence a series of key projects and works on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the day Saigon - Gia Dinh City was honored to bear the name of President Ho Chi Minh on the morning of July 1st
With a scale of 73.3 ha, a total investment of VND 29,317 billion, including 5 component projects, the project is invested by Ben Nha Rong Tourism Services Co., Ltd. - Sun Group under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, with a Build-Transfer (BT) contract. This is a key project aimed at simultaneously resolving traffic infrastructure bottlenecks in the southern gateway area, expanding public space along the river, and promoting the historical and cultural values of the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi area.
Expanding Nguyen Tat Thanh street from 4 to 10 lanes, resolving the traffic bottleneck at the southern gateway
For many years, the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi area and the southern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City have frequently experienced traffic jams due to large vehicle volumes, while infrastructure has not kept pace with urban development. The synchronous investment in the transportation system is expected to resolve long-standing bottlenecks, meet the expectations of the people, and enhance connectivity between the South and the city center.

The project will expand Nguyen Tat Thanh street from 4 to 10 lanes, creating a vital transportation axis connecting the South area with the center of Ho Chi Minh City, resolving a long-standing bottleneck.
According to the plan, the project will expand Nguyen Tat Thanh street from 4 to 10 lanes, creating a vital transportation axis connecting the South area with the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Along with that, Tan Thuan 1 bridge will be newly built, Tan Thuan 2 bridge will be widened, Hoang Dieu underpass will be constructed, and a system of parking lots, piers, tourist reception houses, and synchronous technical infrastructure will be invested, contributing to reducing traffic pressure and improving the exploitation capacity of the entire area.
On the opposite bank, the Bach Dang Wharf area will be invested with an underground parking lot, an underground commercial center, and upgraded technical infrastructure, creating favorable conditions for people to access the park system and riverside space.
The project also invests in a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River, connecting Nha Rong, Khanh Hoi Wharf with Bach Dang Wharf, contributing to the formation of a continuous transportation network, landscape, and public space on both sides of the river.
Creating a cultural space from the Nha Rong heritage
Besides transportation infrastructure, the project aims to form a large-scale cultural and historical space at Nha Rong Wharf - the place that marks the event of June 5, 1911, when the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh left to find a way to save the country.

The focus of this component is the Ben Nha Rong Cultural Park, connecting with the Project to renovate and embellish the campus of the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh City Branch, forming a cultural complex at a historically significant site for the nation. This will be a space for people and visitors to learn about the life, revolutionary career, and journey to find a way to save the country of President Ho Chi Minh through structures, landscapes, and experiential activities.
One of the special highlights of the project is the reconstruction of the original model of the ship Amiral Latouche-Treville, the ship associated with the event of June 5, 1911. The ship will be built according to the original French design and brought to Vietnam, instead of using simulated structures, to ensure historical accuracy and respect for the original work, contributing to a realistic portrayal of the milestone that began President Ho Chi Minh's journey to find a way to save the country.
"Adapting heritage" - not erasing the traces of the old port but preserving its characteristic architectural values and giving it new life. According to the "Old Shell - New Core" method, on the foundation of existing warehouses and workshops, the interior spaces will be converted into exhibition, creative, cultural, commercial, service, and community activity areas, both preserving the memory of the Khanh Hoi trading port and creating new cultural spaces for the people.

The project is implemented with the concept of "Heritage Adaptation" - not erasing the traces of the old port but preserving the characteristic architectural values and bestowing new vitality.
Along with that, the port areas and riverside warehouses will be converted into parks, squares, walking paths, scenic viewing areas, and spaces for organizing cultural and artistic activities. The Ben Bach Dang area will continue to be expanded with green spaces, viewing decks, piers, and supporting facilities, gradually expanding public access to the riverbank.
Upon completion, the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Cultural Park and Ben Bach Dang Public Greenery Project will simultaneously address traffic bottlenecks, expand public spaces, and promote the historical values of the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi area. From an old port area, this place will become a cultural - historical - tourism space along the Saigon River, contributing to improving people's quality of life and creating new development momentum for Ho Chi Minh City.
