The "link" to resolve the southern traffic bottleneck
As an important component of the vital traffic axis starting from Dong No 1 bridge, passing through Dong No island (Kim Cuong Island Urban Area - Sunneva Island) and Co Co river, Dong No 2 bridge directly connects to Chuong Duong street - an important route connecting bridges along the Han river, Co Co river and roads running straight to the sea. The operation of the project facilitates trade, economy, and people's lives, resolving the traffic bottleneck at the southern gateway. This is also the 12th bridge crossing the Co Co river in Da Nang city after the merger with Quang Nam.
Dong No 2 Bridge completes traffic connection for the South area of central Da Nang.
With a total investment of over 128 billion VND, the bridge has a total length of 128.7m, consisting of three long spans. The bridge deck width reaches 14.5m, ensuring traffic flow for motorized vehicles. The two main span bridge piers are designed in a cantilevered form (over 15m on each side) with a slender arch shape, creating a unique architectural imprint. At night, the modern lighting system transforms the bridge into a new symbol along the Co Co River.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, assessed: The opening of Dong No 2 Bridge is a testament to Sun Group's seriousness in investing in infrastructure for the benefit of the community. The bridge helps strengthen connectivity between the southern region and the center, reduces the load on Hoa Xuan bridge, and aligns with the city's multi-polar urban development orientation.
"This is an important traffic work, of special significance for the urban development of the Southeast of the city, expanding traffic connectivity, promoting socio-economic development, and improving the quality of life for the people. The bridge is built not only to connect the two banks of the river, but also to connect urban areas, tourist service centers, new development spaces, and future investment opportunities," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi.

In recent years, the southern area of the center of Da Nang has witnessed rapid urbanization, leading to immense pressure on the transportation infrastructure system. The Hoa Xuan bridge intersection frequently experiences overload during peak hours. Along with that, the lack of direct connecting routes leaves residents from the Hoa Quy - Ngu Hanh Son area with only one option to enter the city center: crossing Bo Quan bridge or Hoa Xuan bridge.
The appearance of Dong No 2 bridge promises to provide a new travel option for residents, contributing to resolving traffic bottlenecks and creating a solid infrastructure lever to attract a wave of population shift to the South, aligning with the city's "multi-polar" urban development orientation. Especially, in the context of the Hoa Xuan bridge intersection preparing for expansion construction, Dong No 2 bridge will play an essential role in "sharing the load", reducing the volume of vehicles converging on this area, thereby effectively preventing traffic jams.
Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of Sun Group Central Region
Along with bridge projects being and to be implemented according to the city's general planning, such as Bui Ta Han bridge…, the connecting transport infrastructure for the Hoa Xuan, Hoa Quy area will be comprehensively upgraded, eliminating the gap between the two river banks and turning this area into a new residential hub south of Da Nang city center.
Rapid construction progress
According to the investor's representative, Dong No 2 bridge was completed with lightning-fast progress in less than 8 months. Commenced in December 2025, the project overcame many major technical and resource challenges to reach completion.
The Project Management Board representative stated that the biggest challenge lay in constructing the two main span cantilever piers with large cap beams (32.2m long, 15.5m wide, 1.4m high) on complex river terrain. The construction solution was to cast concrete monolithically up to 880 m3 in a single pour on a supporting formwork system.

In addition, the entire construction process had to strictly adhere to rigorous testing, settlement reduction, and load testing requirements. For instance, the scaffolding system at pier T1 underwent a load test with a bearing capacity of up to 1,200 tons to ensure absolute safety. Besides technical challenges, the project also faced a shortage of personnel due to numerous key projects being simultaneously implemented nationwide.
However, with the determination to bring the project into service for the people as soon as possible, hundreds of engineers and workers stayed on the construction site day and night. The "3 shifts, 4 teams" organizational solution, accelerating parallel construction across multiple fronts, combined with the spirit of "overcoming heat and rain," helped compensate for weather-related delays, thereby significantly shortening the project timeline.
Sharing the significance of the project, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of Sun Group Central Region, emphasized: “The inauguration of Dong No 2 Bridge is a strong testament to Sun Group's commitment to accompanying the government in ensuring social security, facilitating transportation, improving living conditions, and enhancing the quality of life for the people.”
Sun Group contributes to completing infrastructure and amenities in the Hoa Xuan – Hoa Quy area.
In the context of Da Nang developing a "multi-polar", "multi-center" urban model, Dong No 2 bridge will contribute to increasing connectivity from the South to the city center, opening up room for attracting residents and developing riverside urban spaces in the Hoa Xuan, Hoa Quy area. Previously, Sun Group signed a cooperation agreement with Innochain Group (Edison Schools) on building the Edison inter-level high school at Sun Riverpolis Urban Area (Ngu Hanh Son ward), creating an international standard educational environment, attracting high-quality human resources. Besides, riverside park projects are also being implemented, contributing to improving the quality of life for residents.
The systematic and synchronous infrastructure planning is gradually turning the southern area of Da Nang center into a desirable place to visit, live, and invest.
