Accordingly, the show “Bản giao hưởng Đảo Xanh” - Symphony of the Green Island was officially recognized by Guinness World Records with two records: “Show diễn Jetski bắn pháo hoa có đội hình lớn nhất thế giới” - Largest Jetskis formation launching firework and “Vận động viên nhào lộn bằng flyboard nhiều vòng trong một phút” - Most backflips on a flyboard in one minute by athlete Tomasz Kubik.
Official show sets 2 world records
This is the first time an art – adventure sports – fireworks show on the sea has set 2 world records at once right in Vietnam, opening a new milestone not only for Cat Ba but also for the domestic entertainment tourism industry.
Strict appraisal process – meticulous supervision
Sun Group representatives said that the proposal to establish two Guinness World Records for the Symphony of the Green Island show was made at the beginning of this year, when the show was still in the idea-building phase. Since then, the two sides have gone through many exchanges, agreeing on appraisal criteria, documentary evidence, measurement equipment, images, operational diagrams, and a team of independent witnesses in accordance with international standards.
Rigorous verification process from GWR representatives
Accordingly, the verification requires ensuring completeness of: technical records of the performance equipment (jetski, flyboard, fireworks), safe operating configuration, athlete training procedures, on-sea stage plan, formation map, and previous test videos. Each document must undergo independent review by GWR. Guinness representatives also requested the Organizing Committee to appoint a group of independent witnesses not belonging to the organizing unit, including fireworks experts, water sports technicians, and safety supervisors – to ensure absolute objectivity.
Mrs. Sonia Ushirogochi - senior adjudicator of GWR exchanging verification information
Under the direct supervision of Mrs. Sonia Ushirogochi – senior adjudicator of Guinness World Records, the verification process took place strictly in the afternoon and evening of May 21st, including multiple separate technical inspection steps for each record category.
For the individual record “Vận động viên nhào lộn bằng flyboard nhiều vòng nhất trong một phút” - Most backflips on a flyboard in one minute, the conditions checked included: flyboard equipment inspection, water jet height – speed, propulsion system structure, safety standards, the athlete's aerial body control ability, and wave conditions at the time of execution.
Mrs Sonia conducted the verification for the personal record of athlete Tomasz
Tomasz Kubik successfully performed 43 backflips in 60 seconds, surpassing the current world record of 41. The number of repetitions was monitored by multi-angle recording equipment, an independent witness panel, and a rotation counting system using angular velocity sensors.
“This world record attempt felt very special. Everything is harder under great pressure. But when I completed the final flip, I knew I had pushed past my own limits – and that feeling was amazing,” Tomasz shared excitedly.
According to revelations from his coaching team, during training sessions preparing for the show, Tomasz had previously achieved 46 consecutive flips under ideal weather and technical conditions. This opens up the possibility that throughout the show season, which lasts until early September at Cat Ba , audiences may witness him continue to conquer – even further breaking his own newly set record.
“I train relentlessly to push my own limits. If the weather is good, my spirit is high, and the audience cheers enthusiastically… who knows what will happen on the waters of Cat Ba?” he added.
World record jetski performance
With the collective record of the “Largest Jetski formation fireworks show” - Largest Jetskis formation launching firework, Guinness representatives conducted checks on the number of vehicles, conditions for attaching fireworks to jetskis (including type of fireworks, ignition devices, synchronization mechanism with sound and light), operational formation diagram, operational accuracy, and the coordination capability between operators and the central technical system. During the appraisal, 20 jetskis simultaneously performed complex maneuvers, while maintaining speed and safety, and ensuring fireworks were accurately ignited to the rhythm of music – laser lights – water.
Thrilling performances early attracted tourists right from the training sessions
Two world records confirmed eligible
Following official appraisal, two record categories have been confirmed as valid and eligible for announcement.
Speaking after the appraisal process, Ms. Sonia said: “We not only evaluate the results with the naked eye but also with an independent monitoring system and specific technical standards for each record. What we recorded today at Cat Ba is very convincing. The precision of the jetski formation, the technical difficulty of the flyboard, and the combination of sports, art, and fireworks – all meet international standards.”
She also expressed her feelings: “I not only saw the records being set, but I also felt the energy, passion, and creativity of the people who created this show.”
Tomasz Kubik successfully performed 43 backflips in 1 minute
According to the plan, the certification for these two records will be presented to the organizers' representatives and the athlete Tomasz Kubik during the opening night of the show Symphony of the Green Island , scheduled to premiere on the evening of May 30th and run until early September.
Staged by H2O Events and LaserVision, the show is a combination of three extreme sports: jetski, flyboard, and jetsurf – set to music combined with unprecedented fireworks, water effects, and stage lighting in Vietnam, within a storyline based on the flamingo fairy of Cat Ba and the Five Elements theory in Eastern culture. The show is the focal point of a series of new products launched by Sun Group in the island's center, including the Vui-Fest night market, The Forest Beach Club and The Sea Beach Club restaurant complex, and the green transportation system.
